Why spray foam for shipping containers

Shipping containers are sealed steel boxes that swing wildly in temperature. Warm interior air hits cold corrugated steel and condenses, producing the notorious "container rain" that drips onto stored goods, equipment and machinery. Left untreated, that moisture corrodes the steel shell, ruins contents and makes any converted container unworkable as an office, store or workshop.

Enverge closed-cell spray foam self-bonds directly to the ribbed steel as it cures, forming a seamless insulating skin with no gaps, joints or fixings. Because it is a closed-cell foam it resists moisture and breaks the thermal bridge that causes condensation, so the steel surface no longer drops below dew point and container rain simply stops forming inside the unit.

The result is a dry, stable, well-insulated container that holds temperature, protects its contents and converts cleanly into usable commercial space. Bonds to ribbed steel

Closed-cell foam follows the corrugations of the steel and seals completely, stopping condensation and insulating in one pass.

Enverge closed-cell spray foam (Nexseal LE) is applied directly to the cleaned interior steel, where it self-bonds and expands to wrap every corrugation in a continuous, moisture-resistant layer. Its low water absorption and high closed-cell content keep the steel surface above dew point, stopping interstitial condensation and container rain without any vapour barrier, batten or board.

Will spray foam stop condensation inside my shipping container?

Yes. Closed-cell foam bonds to the steel and keeps its surface above dew point, so warm interior air no longer condenses on cold metal. That is what stops "container rain" dripping onto your stored goods and equipment.

How much internal space will I lose?

Very little. The foam follows the corrugated profile of the steel tightly rather than building out a thick boxed wall, so usable floor area and head height inside the container are barely affected once coated.

Can you insulate a container being converted to an office or workshop?
