The challenge
Brick manufacturing depends on tightly controlled drying conditions. A drying chamber must hold a consistent process temperature, and any heat loss or uncontrolled air movement through the building fabric works against that control, forcing the process to compensate and undermining the stability the operation relies on day to day.
At the Walsall site the chamber structure needed an insulation approach that could line the envelope continuously and resist the demands of an industrial process environment. Traditional insulation fixed in sheets risks leaving joints and gaps exactly where consistent thermal performance matters most for a temperature-critical chamber.
The ThermoFoam solution
ThermoFoam applied Enverge closed-cell spray foam to the chamber's internal envelope. The closed-cell foam self-bonds to the substrate as it cures, forming a continuous, seamless insulating layer with no board joints or fixings, which is well suited to lining a process chamber where a uniform thermal barrier is the priority.
Because the same application both insulates and seals against air movement, the chamber envelope gains thermal performance and airtightness together. ThermoFoam controlled the foam thickness across the structure to give the drying chamber a consistent, robust insulation line aligned to the manufacturer's specification for the system.
The result
Ibstock's Walsall drying chamber gained a continuous, seamless insulation layer to help maintain its temperature-critical process environment, supporting more stable conditions inside the chamber.
