Overview

Why spray foam for pool halls

Pool halls run warm, chlorinated and saturated with moisture. Every cold roof deck, purlin and steel frame above the water becomes a dew-point surface where humid air condenses, drips back onto bathers and walkways, and quietly corrodes structure. Untreated leisure-centre roofs suffer staining, rust streaks, dripping and rising heating bills as warm air escapes through an uninsulated envelope all year round.

Enverge closed-cell spray foam is sprayed directly to the underside of the pool-hall roof and steelwork, self-bonding as it cures into a seamless, vapour-resistant blanket. It lifts surface temperatures above dew point so warm, chlorine-laden air can no longer condense overhead, while sealing every gap, lap and junction that leaks costly heated air. One continuous layer handles insulation and air-tightness together.

The result is a dry, controlled pool hall: no overhead drips onto swimmers, no hidden corrosion eating the roof, and noticeably lower heating and dehumidification loads. Leisure operators gain a warmer, more comfortable environment, protected steelwork, and a fabric that supports plant efficiency targets — exactly the outcome delivered at Newport Leisure Centre.

Why spray foam

The benefits for pool halls

Dew-Point Control

Raises roof and steel surface temperatures above dew point, stopping condensation forming over the pool below.

No Overhead Drips

Seamless coating ends cold-bridge dripping onto swimmers, walkways and poolside tiling in humid halls.

Corrosion Defence

Vapour-resistant closed-cell barrier shields purlins and frames from the chlorine-laden, moisture-heavy pool atmosphere.

Lower Heating Loads

Air-tight thermal envelope cuts escaping heated air, easing both heating and dehumidification plant demand.

Quieter Environment

Sprayed layer dampens echo and plant noise common to large, hard-surfaced pool and leisure halls.

Warrantied System

Nexseal LE carries a 25-year manufacturer-backed product warranty.

The system

An airtight, warm envelope

Closed-cell foam seals the roof and walls completely, keeping internal surfaces above dew point and controlling humidity.

Enverge Nexseal LE closed-cell foam is spray-applied to the roof deck and exposed steelwork of the pool hall, self-bonding as it cures into a monolithic, low-permeability layer. By keeping internal surfaces above dew point and sealing air paths, it controls interstitial and surface condensation in the high-humidity, chlorine-rich environment while reinstating continuous insulation across complex roof geometry.

In detail

Specification & compliance for pool halls

Pool halls are the harshest thermal environment in commercial building: 50–70% relative humidity, warm air, and any cold surface becomes a condensation plane. Fibre and board insulation absorb that moisture and fail; closed-cell foam cannot absorb water, and sprayed at 25–75 mm it keeps roof and wall surfaces above dew point so condensation never forms.

The continuous, airtight envelope also slashes the heat these buildings pour through their fabric — proven on our own installs at Newport Leisure Centre and Penventon Park Hotel — and carries a 25-year manufacturer-backed product warranty.

FAQs

Swimming Pool insulation, answered

Will spray foam stop condensation dripping onto the pool?

Yes. Closed-cell foam raises the temperature of the roof deck and steelwork above the dew point of the warm, humid air below, so moisture can no longer condense overhead and drip onto swimmers, walkways or poolside finishes.

Can it cope with the chlorine atmosphere in a pool hall?

Closed-cell Enverge foam forms a vapour-resistant barrier that shields the underlying steel and purlins from the chlorine-laden, moisture-heavy air, helping protect structure that would otherwise corrode quickly in a swimming-pool environment.

Will insulating the roof reduce our energy bills?

An air-tight, continuous foam envelope reduces heated air escaping through the roof and eases the load on dehumidification plant. Most leisure operators see meaningful savings on heating and humidity control once the envelope is sealed.

Do you work on occupied, operational leisure centres?

Yes. We programme works around pool timetables and closures, isolating and protecting the work zone so the application is carried out safely with minimal disruption to bathing sessions and centre operations.

Is the system certified and guaranteed?

Yes. Nexseal LE closed-cell foam carries a 25-year manufacturer-backed product warranty, giving leisure operators long-term assurance on a critical, high-humidity building element.

Why does normal insulation fail in pool halls?

Fibre and open-board systems absorb the moisture in 50–70% RH pool air, slump and delaminate. Closed-cell foam is impermeable — it cannot absorb water.

How does spray foam stop pool hall condensation?

By insulating the surface itself, the foam keeps roof and wall linings above dew point, so the humid air never finds a cold plane to condense on.

Can you work in an operating leisure centre?

Yes — we've delivered low-odour installs in live leisure and hospitality buildings, phased around opening hours.
