What a Boston spray foam installation involves

Across the Midlands we are usually called about heat loss and condensation across very large industrial roofs. The building tells us what it needs — the survey establishes whether insulation is the right answer, and if so, which system and what thickness.

What we check before quoting

We start with what the roof is made of and what condition it is in — corrugated fibre-cement, profiled steel, concrete or timber each need their own preparation. Existing leaks are identified first, because spraying the underside of a roof does not make it watertight; rainwater ingress, condensation and structural defects have to be told apart before a treatment is chosen. Internal humidity and building use are recorded too, since they drive condensation as much as the roof does. On asbestos-cement sheeting, encapsulation may be an option — the material remains in place and still needs managing.

The system we specify

Most commercial work in the Midlands is closed-cell Nexseal LE, sprayed in situ so it bonds to the deck and holds the surface above dew point — which is what stops the drip. It is rigid, adds stiffness to thin sheeting and carries a 25-year manufacturer-backed product warranty. Open-cell Sucraseal is specified where vapour needs to move more freely and the building can accommodate it. Thickness follows the outcome you need, not a standard figure, and it is written into the specification at survey rather than decided on the day. How the installation runs

Work is phased around your operation. Areas are sheeted and protected, services and rooflights masked, and the foam applied in controlled passes to the specified thickness, with coverage checked before the protection comes down. Most buildings in Boston are sprayed in days rather than weeks and stay in use for much of it. You receive the specification, the product documentation and the warranty paperwork at handover.
